    Please think carefully and answer these questions.
If you got more in these questions, you may be at higher risk of getting osteoporosis and we recommend that you consult your doctor, who will advise whether further tests are necessary.
   
 
 
  1. Having a family history of osteoporosis    
    Mother has (or had) osteoporosis
 
    Father has (or had) osteoporosis
 
    One or more siblings have (or had) osteoporosis

 
  2. Having bone fracture    
    Broke a bone when 40 or older
 
    Spinal fracture: sudden loss of height
 
    Spinal fracture: a dowager's hump

 
  3. Body type    
    Tall and slender

 
  4. For females:
 
    Began to menstruate at age 15 or older
 
    In menopause  
    Reached menopause before age 45
 
    Ovaries removed
 
    Menstrual interruptions or irregularities more than one year

 
  5. For men:Low testosterone levels    
    Reduced libido or impotence
 
    Decreased facial and body hair  
    Enlarged breasts

 
  6. Taking hign doses of corticosteriod tablets:    
    Rheumatoid arthritis
 
    Systematic lupus erythematous  
    Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
 
    Cancer
 
    Adrenal gland disorder
 
    Cushing syndrome
 
    Acquired immuno-deficiency syndrome

 
  7. Diseases of the thyroid or parathyroid / thyroid medication overdose  
    Suffering fromthyroid disorder
 
    Suffering from a disorder of the parathyroid
 
    Taking thyroid hormone

 
  8. Lack of calcium intake & eating disorder    
    Not eating diary products
 
    Not eating soy products
 
    Eating disorder  
    Lactose-intolerant

 
  9. Sedentary life    
    Engaging in moderate to vigorous exercise less than 30 minutes per day  
    Sitting most of the time  
    Exposing under the sun less than 10 minutes per day

 
  10. Smoking    
    Having a smoking habit  
    Ex-smoker

 
  11. Alcoholic    
    Having at least seven drinks per week

 
  12. Caffeine 400mg per day    
    Having at least 4 cups of coffee / 8 cans of coke / 6 cups of tea per day
